No Comments on Lothian League fixtures out
It’s been a lot of work but all fixtures and divisions are now available.
Key points
  • Mixed starts 26/09, men’s doubles on 05/10 and women’s doubles on 12/10
  • We have three new clubs joining, Queen Margaret, Currie, Danderhall and 13 new teams
  • There should be very few matches should be on your club night
  • EBA and North Morningside will host a few matches at St. George’s School
  • All matches should be fairly well spaced out and I’ve avoided have 1st and 2nd teams playing on the same night
  • Please update your club’s page on the website if you haven’t already, look for the email from last season
Results
  • The new scorecard
  • Please take a photo of the scorecard and email it to me
  • The subject line needs to be [DATE] [DIVISION] [TEAM 1] [TEAM 2] [SCORE]
  • eg ’26/09 XD1 Western vs EUBC 2 9-9′
I’m also looking for a few members of clubs to provide photos/videos/simple match reports for the website. In addition remember if you’re running an event, want to advertise to new members, send us the link and we’ll post it on the website/Facebook page for you.
If you have any questions or spot a mistake please let me know as soon as possible.
Format Changes
As you may know, there are a few changes to the format. Each team still plays the same number of matches and the differences are mainly cosmetic and behind the scenes. It should make the league more competitive at the top, friendlier at the bottom and more flexible to new teams.
  • The season is now split into two half seasons October – December and January to March
  • Divisions of four with each team playing 3 matches per half season
  • There are promotions and relegations at the end of each half season
  • Medals will be presented to the winning teams in March
What this means:
  • We now have 9 men’s, 4 women’s and 5 mixed divisions
  • You no longer have to wait an entire year to see how your team did
  • There will be fewer 18-0 matches and games should be more competitive at the top and bottom
  • You won’t know exact fixtures for January to March until mid-December
  • After promotions, there will be one rematch (2nd vs 3rd place) in the next half season with all other matches being new
  • Any division with 3 teams (currently just XD4) will be rotated between seasons so that each team gets at least 5 matches. Eg Oct to Dec, XD4 has three teams, then Jan to March XD2 has three teams etc.
