The Meadowbank Xmas
Junior has been running at Meadowbank since the centre opened in
1970 (when it took over from the East of Scotland Junior League
Championships) and it is the Lothian Restricted Junior
Championships, with many future (now past!) internationalists on
its roll of honour.
There are 5 age-groups,
played over 2 days, 29/30 Dec.
Quadruple winners:
Alasdair Hastings (Haddington)
triple at U15 (also claiming the U17 mixed)
Megan Richardson (Haddington)
taking Singles and Girls' Doubles at both U17 and U15
Hannah Laing (Haddington)
taking both Girls' Doubles and Mixed at both U17 and U15.
Triple winners:
Jakob van den Berg
(South Queensferry), Caroline Collinson (Edinburgh) at U19,
Michael Campbell
(Edinburgh) U17 BS and BD, and also BD at U19.
Double winners:
Julie MacPherson
(still U12) taking U13 GS and GD
Alistair Gordon
(Edinburgh) taking U13 BS and BD.
Andrew Mawbey (Longniddry)
taking U13 BD and MxD

Lothian - particularly Haddington at intermediate ages,
Longniddry (and nearby Cockenzie) at youngest ages.
125 individual
entrants, (some playing in two age-groups), coming from as far
afield as Bathgate in the West, North Berwick in the East, and
Penicuik in the (not very far) south.
